Graham Thompson is a political columnist for the Edmonton Journal. Graham began his journalism career as a reporter with CBC Radio in 1984 before switching to CBC Television in 1989. In 1995 he joined the Edmonton Journal where he has covered stories across Canada and written investigative articles from the United States, Mexico and Russia and spent two tours with Canadian troops in Afghghanistan. He has been a columnist since 2002. In 2013 he travelled to the Middle East to report on the Syrian refugee crisis.
He has won a National Newspaper Award for his reporting and has been nominated for his columns. Graham spent eight months at the University of Toronto after being awarded a Canadian Journalism Foundation fellowship in 2008-09 where he studied environmental law and climate change.
