CPBI Pacific Luncheon Session : Pension and Benefits - Legislation & Communication

Session description

CPBI Pacific is pleased to announce our upcoming luncheon presentation on Thursday June 16th, 2016 – addressing two topics:

  • Canadian pension and benefit case law & legislation and an overview of emerging legal trends in pensions and benefits for 2016 and beyond.
  • A deeper dive into Employee Benefit Communications – legal liability and privacy concerns. 

This 70 mins session will provide detailed and practical information for those working in the pension and benefits industry and will also include a Q&A.

The presentation will be generously provided by Dentons Pension, Benefits & Executive Compensation group and will have three recognized speakers take the podium, each covering a specific topic:

  • Scott Sweatman (Partner) – mid-year update on Canadian pension and benefit case law & legislation and an overview of emerging legal trends in pensions and benefits for 2016 and beyond, including Target Benefit Plans becoming more common and, the recent CIA paper on CPP expansion
  • Claude Marchessault (Counsel) – legal liability arising from benefit communications
  • Taylor Buckley (Associate) – privacy concerns applicable to benefit communications

The session will be preceded by the CPBI Pacific Regional Council's Annual Meeting.
