Description:

Based in the Calgary group sales and service office, this position reports directly to the Regional Director, Sales and Service, Western Canada. Key role requirements include developing new relationships within the regional group insurance Advisor community, strengthening existing relationships with group insurance Advisors, and ensuring that growth, persistency, and profitability objectives of the assigned territory are consistently achieved. Developing the profile of Industrial Alliance in the region will be an important aspect of this role.

Key responsibilities:
• develop a sales strategy (in collaboration with the Regional Director); drive its execution; monitor and report on results
• expand Advisor relationships by implementing strategies to encourage new relationships and strengthen existing ones
• provide “best in class” service to in-force clients and their Advisors through collaboration with the service team
• partner with the underwriting team to prepare proposals on new business
• manage block profitability through renewal preparation and negotiation
• promote the Industrial Alliance brand within the region; identify opportunities to build brand recognition;
• assist with the planning and execution of events for group insurance Advisors; collaborate with the Regional Director and the group marketing team, where appropriate
• monitor the competitive environment by gathering input on market pricing, products, services, activities, etc.
• provide strategic input into product development, administration, client service, underwriting, and pricing
• comply with corporate business objectives, policies, procedures, and practices

Requirements:

Education:
• university degree
• CEBS designation (preferred)

Experience:
• minimum of 5 years of group insurance experience as an accomplished account executive, benefits advisor and/or group underwriter/analyst
• excellent understanding of the mid/large case market (50 – 1,000+ employees)
• established relationships in the Alberta and/or Saskatchewan Advisor community (preferred)
