CPBI Membership Questions

  • When does my CPBI membership expire?

Membership follows a calendar year, from January 1st to December 31st. According to the CPBI by-laws, members have 30 days after their membership lapse to renew. They lose their “active member” status February 1st but can renew at any given time during the year.

 

  • Is it possible to transfer my CPBI membership to someone else?

An individual membership cannot be transferred to someone else (EXCEPTIONS: the member is leaving the organization or being promoted in a position outside the area of pension, employee benefits and institutional investments.) 

 

  • How do I renew my membership?

You can renew your membership online by logging into your account with your User ID and password at https://www.cpbi-icra.ca/. You may also renew the membership by phone:  1 888-788-3185 - select option 1, then ext.4. We accept payment by cheque or Visa, MasterCard and American Express.

 

  • I don’t have/lost/forgot my User ID or Password. What do I do?

To retrieve a User ID or Password, you can enter your email address on this page: http://www.cpbi-icra.ca/Forgot-Password

CPBI PSGM Questions

  • What is a plan sponsor and do I qualify as one?

A person is considered a Plan Sponsor when their company offers a benefits plan to their employees and is not associated with the sale of any kind of products or services pertaining to the pension, benefits and investment industry.

A plan sponsor individual membership is also available to someone who works for a company that offers products or services pertaining to the pension, benefits and investment industry but whose role is to provide services to the employees of this company (i.e. Human resources Manager, Compensation Specialist, etc.).

Members of Board of Trustees are considered plan sponsors.

 

  • I am a PSGM manager trying to register my members to an event and I can’t seem to log in.

As a PSGM manager, you have access to two logins: one for the PSGM and one individual profile for registering to events.

The first one is the one to manage the members in the CPBI PSGM membership (this is the one you use to add members into the roster of your PSGM). You can log into that account with the registration information given to you via this webpage:

The other is the individual membership profile which members use to register for events. You can log into the account by visiting this webpage: http://www.cpbi-icra.ca/ (Simply Click on “Log In” on the top right corner).

 

  • How do I add someone into my PSGM?

Ask for this person’s CPBI User profile. If they do not have one, simply create one (select non-member as type since you will be adding her to your group membership) via this page https://www.cpbi-icra.ca/Sign-Up. Please keep in mind that the:

1- Employer name must be identical to the one used in the PSGM

2- Profile must have to be selected as a plan sponsor with appropriate specialty.

Once the account is successfully created, you will need to log out of this person’s account. Then log into your PSGM account and add this person into the PSGM, via this site: https://www.cpbi-icra.ca/CPBI-Membership/Plan-Sponsor-Group-Membership  

Once the person is added into the group, the person will be receiving an email with their login details. They need this individual profile to register for events.

  • The person I want to add to my PSGM does not appear in the list.

Make sure that the person has a profile on the CPBI website. In their profile, the:

1- Employer name must be identical to the one used in the PSGM

2- Profile must have to be selected as a plan sponsor with appropriate specialty.

  • Is it possible to swap out members in a PSGM membership?

CPBI memberships are attached to each person individually, as such, it is not possible to switch out members in a PSGM, unless the said person has changed positions to be no longer involved in the pension industry or is no longer with the company.
