In 2012, the CLHIA announced a pooling framework focused on small employers to assist with the sustainability of private drug insurance plans facing affordability challenges from high-cost drug claims. Building on a like CPBI session in late 2019, this session will review what the framework, the impacts with high-drugs, pooling results, and emerging trends.

Dan Berty Executive Director Canadian Drug Insurance Pooling Corporation (CDIPC)

Since 2015, Mr. Berty has been the CDIPC’s Executive Director and is responsible administration of the corporation’s high-cost drug pooling mechanisms. During his 25+ years in the industry, Mr. Berty has provided executive leadership on a variety of transformational and industry wide initiatives including electronic claims, operations virtualization, offshoring, use of data analytics in fraud management, and risk analysis. Beyond his work for CDIPC, the consultancy he leads also provides expert advice on group health and dental insurance to technology companies, insurers, foreign investors, and medical provider associations.
