This position is responsible for sales development in the small to mid benefits market.  This includes business development, prospecting, selling and retaining corporate business through the consulting/brokerage community.  The Account Executive’s goal is to ensure that the business negotiated is financially viable, administratively feasible, and enhances the overall customer experience.


New business development including the following: 

  • Develops and strengthens relationships with new and existing advisors and consultants.
  • Leads sales and educational presentations to advisors, consultants and plan sponsors.
  • Reviews specifications from consultants and other advisors ensuring the information is complete, comprehensive and meets underwriting and administration requirements. 
  •  Leads the follow-up of corporate account proposals to determine competitiveness in the group insurance market with the goal of gaining the business 
  • Assists in the enrolment and installation of new corporate accounts and ensures they are familiarized with Alberta Blue Cross procedures. 

Group Policy Renewals:

  • Presents renewals to brokers and consultants, ensuring that the cost of doing business is on a viable basis.

Internal resource:

  • Works with all Group Business units on issues relating to administration of the corporate account book of business.


  • Works with the assigned Client Care Specialist to ensure an effective, high level of scheduled service to corporate accounts in Edmonton and area. 
  • Co-ordinates benefit and administrative presentations to existing and potential clients.
  • Develops and strengthens relationships with corporate clients.


  • Must demonstrate professionalism and excellence in sales ability and presentation skills.
  • Must demonstrate strong skills in verbal and written communications, as well as excellent negotiation skills.
  • Must possess strong industry experience and knowledge.
  • Must demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of all Alberta Blue Cross benefit plans.
  • A strong knowledge of underwriting will be an asset.
  • Life, Accident, and Sickness licensing is required.
  • Must enroll in industry educational courses, i.e. CEBS and attend industry related conferences and seminars as required.
  • Must possess working knowledge in Word & Excel.
