The Role:

As the Group Benefits Specialist, you are pivotal in providing outstanding Employee Benefit & Pension service to clients Companies, their HR professionals and Benefits Administrators.

You operate as a Subject Matter Expert for clients with regards to a full range of employee benefit insurance products, including Retirement Plans, Group Benefits, individual Life and Health insurance and ‘BenPal’ Administration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the sales & leadership team as a SME resource to tackle clients’ technical questions about their Employee Benefits & Pension Plans.
  • Conduct analyses and provide recommendations on program design, legislations and other support for our benefit insurance products.
  • Spearhead the Retirement Plan Management, including all governance processes.
  • Coordinate the annual group benefits insurance rate renewal process using our proprietary platform ‘BenPal’.
  • Assist with plan member communication and presentations, including new hire benefits orientation sessions when required.
  • Obtain quotes and implementation of Key Person, Individual and Group Conversion programs for our Individual Life and Health programs.
  • Coordinate and assist with application process, enrollment and/or flex re-enrollment of plan members.
  • Working closely with the team, assist and support the Request for Proposal (RFP) process.
  • Assist in identifying and implementing workflow improvements to ensure the most effective and efficient administrative processes are utilized.
  • Oversee annual renewals for our suite of Specialty Insurance Products including Worker Compensation, Business Travel and Accident Insurance, including quotes, policy implementation and policy invoices.
Requirements:

Skills Required:

  • 5 – 7 years experience working in Employee Benefits, Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution Pension administration.
  • Solid working knowledge of group insurance and group retirement programs.
  • Post secondary education in Business Administration or a related field.
  • Life insurance license and Accident & Sickness licenses preferred (if not currently holding valid insurance licenses, willing to take courses and obtain appropriate licenses).
  • CEBS designation or coursework an asset.
  • Computer literate and strong on Microsoft Office suite especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and handle multiple files simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, planning & organizing skills.
  • Analytical and highly detail oriented.
