School Jurisdiction Liaison

Position Summary

The School Jurisdiction Liaison (SJL) is a member of the ASEBP Stakeholder Relations Team which works to build relationships, establish shared understanding, and collaborate to achieve common goals with stakeholders in the public education and health sectors.

The focus of the SJL is to support ASEBP school jurisdictions and education sector associations in their role as benefit plan employer groups. Through engagement and information exchange, the SJL builds and maintains strong relationships, facilitates and supports collaborative problem-solving, and ensures employer groups understand the value of ASEBP offerings and the strategic mandate of our organization. The SJL applies a solid understanding of ASEBP policies and operational processes, and acts as a broker to other business units when working with employer groups to meet their needs.

Your Key Responsibilities

Build and maintain strong working relationships with school jurisdictions and education sector associations and other stakeholders throughout Alberta:

  • Keep employer groups informed about the benefit plan services and other offerings they are receiving and changes that may affect them.
  • Plan, organize and schedule regular contact, including on-site annual meetings, with employer groups to ensure they are informed of and understand ASEBP’s strategic direction as well as plan and process changes.
  • Respond to queries and comments with regards to ASEBP’s programs and services provided, including benefit plan changes and additions.
  • Represents ASEBP at relevant (employer-group focused) conferences and events through the provision of presentations, workshops or hosting of exhibits.

Support the understanding and decision-making of ASEBP leadership and teams by effective gathering, analysis and presentation of school jurisdiction and stakeholder feedback:

  • Facilitate discussions with internal ASEBP teams to create the strategic agenda for annual meetings with employer groups.
  • Communicate openly and inclusively with internal and external stakeholders, articulating key points in both written and verbal communication.
  • Gather information from a variety of sources and provide sound analysis through identification of critical connections and patterns.
  • Lead and/or participate in projects or discussions impacting employer groups or ASEBP covered members.

Your Education and Experience

  • Completion of a university degree in a related field.
  • Five or more years of experience within a client-focused service industry or insurance and/or benefits administration industry.

A combination of education and experience may be considered.

Your Abilities

  • Consultation experience with clients in determining and resolving issues.
  • Ability to adequately assess client needs and provide appropriate information/guidance.
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to understand and communicate business processes and policies.
  • Strong problem solving and decision making ability.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels
  • Strong computer skills with an ability to work proficiently with Microsoft Office products.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and delivery of presentations and group information sessions utilizing various learning styles with varying audiences.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong collaboration skills.

Unique Working Conditions

You will have a chance to work with groups across the province, so travel is a requirement of this position.
