Primer on the Multijurisdictional Pension Plan Agreement

Manitoba joined the Multijurisdictional Pension Plan Agreement (MJPPA) effective July 1, 2023. By attending this session, sponsors and administrators of Manitoba-registered pension plans will come away with an enhanced awareness of the MJPPA and what it means for their pension plans. This session will provide an overview of the MJPPA by covering the following key topics:

  • What are the Major and Minor Authorities?
  • What are the roles and responsibilities of the Major and Minor Authorities?
  • Applicability of the Major or Minor Authority to various pension matters (e.g., funding, investments, fiduciary responsibilities, disclosure, individual member entitlements)
  • The asset allocation method and when it may apply
