Understanding the Links between Financial, Physical and Mental Well-Being. Catch-22 or Panacea?

As program administrators, advisors and consultants, we have unprecedented access to data. With this comes many ‘opportunities’ to mine customer trends and leverage machine learning, artificial intelligence, robo-advisors, chatbots, block chains, social media, etc. Countered with the constant bombardment of front-page news about big brother, privacy breaches, identify theft, Dr. Google, and we are presented with a fascinating paradox!

Carefully navigating this ‘mine field’ is our new reality. Jim Balsillie, Co-founder of RIM and Chair of the Centre for International Governance Innovation, effectively summarized this quandary stating, “Data is not the new oil – it’s the new plutonium.”

In this session, you will learn about the symbiotic relationship between financial, physical and mental well-being. We’ll explore the concept of this ‘Catch-22’ vs. the potential panacea for material and measurable change. Key topics will include:

  • The science: the “vicious cycle” of financial, physical and mental illness interrelatedness.
  • Tactics to assess and identify key risk factors, motivators and other behavioural indicators amongst your clients while protecting their right to privacy.
  • Innovative strategies to move your clients along a continuum of change by leveraging proven behavioural models.

*** Hint: the risk factor with the highest prevalence is not usually your best area of focus!

  • Sample case studies
  • Measurement approaches to determine tangible ROI (societal, organizational and individual benefits)
