The opportunity

We are seeking an individual who has the knowledge and experience to lead a team responsible for the design, administration, governance and communication of TC Energy’s Canadian pension, benefits and savings programs, with a primary focus on program operations.

What you’ll do

  • Provide leadership, guidance and oversight to the Canadian Pension & Benefits team to ensure accurate administration and effective communication of the pension, benefits and savings programs
  • Exercise independent judgement in prioritizing, planning, scheduling, organizing, coordinating and monitoring the team’s workload
  • Provide subject matter expertise and recommendations to various levels of management
  • Manage relationships with numerous third-party administrators
  • Stay current in all areas of compliance, including federal, provincial and tax legislation, and disclosure and reporting requirements
  • Provide input/recommendations on process improvements, documentation and efficiencies
  • Develop, maintain and deliver education materials for employees
  • Oversee various program and compliance activities such as annual benefits enrollment, pension disclosures, program benchmarking and year-end reporting
  • Consult and advise on complex employee and retiree issues
  • Participate in projects (research, analytics, implementations, redesign, acquisitions and divestitures) and provide input, recommendations and support relating to program impacts and activities
  • Assist with developing materials for the Pension Committee
  • Collaborate with various HR partners on cross-functional projects to improve the efficiency of current and/or new processes and practices
  • Monitor, measure, and analyze program queries and reports to identify trends.

Minimum Qualifications

  • University Degree in a related field such as HR, Business, Commerce, or Actuarial Science
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive pension and benefits experience
  • Excellent people and leadership skills with the demonstrated ability to create and maintain a successful team at a high functioning level
  • Experience managing complex Canadian pension and benefits plans.

  • Ability to deal with changing priorities and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills
  • Strong customer service skills and highly effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem solving and decision making ability
  • Strong project management and change management skills
  • Excellent attention to detail with extreme care and concern for accuracy
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and deal with people sensitively and tactfully
  • Experience with SAP and ServiceNow would be an asset
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and Office.
