Description:

The Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation is inviting applications for a Pension Technician for the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Retirement Plan (STRP). The STRP is a target benefit plan established to provide retirement benefits to Plan participants.

Pension Technicians are involved in and responsible for a broad spectrum of pension activities ranging from pension administration and financial services to direct services to members through written and oral communication with regard to Plan provisions.

Typical responsibilities include processing incoming benefit payments, payout calculations and monthly pension payments; answering inquiries and providing information to members; explaining benefits to members; and processing school board remittances. Specific duties may vary depending on the overall needs of the work unit.

Requirements:

The successful candidate will have an undergraduate degree in economics or commerce combined with 2-3 years of related pension experience. A Pension Plan Administration Certificate or equivalent is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered. Consideration will be given to those who do not have a pension designation or related experience, as training will be provided; however, the incumbent will be required to enroll and successfully complete the requirements of the Pension Plan Administration Certificate.
