December 2021 E-Bulletin

FROM OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

It’s hard to believe that December is already here. Looks like 2021 proved to be another year of change, adaptation and renewal!

Speaking of renewal, CPBI is in the process of migrating to a new membership system that also includes an entirely new website. We are excited to launch these new platforms early January, resulting in an improved user experience and other new perks, including a Community Module that will allow members to communicate together, seeking answers to work issues, and sharing best-practices. If you haven’t already done so, renew your membership in time to make sure you take advantage of all of these perks.

I am so grateful to the entire CPBI community for making 2021 such a vibrant year. With an average of 2 webinars a week, our 100 online events were well attended, and covered a broad range of topics: economic forecasts, retiring happy, mental health in the workplace, rising drug costs, ETFs, ESG, adjusting to a hybrid workforce, decumulation options, and more!

It takes a village. This was made possible by the collaborative work of so many fine people who care about relevant and cost-effective education related to pensions, investments and benefits. I am immensely grateful to the 150 active volunteers that lend their time and expertise throughout the year: from our Board of Directors, to Regional Council members, as well as FORUM and Regional Conference Committee members… CPBI is powered by an extensive network of expert volunteers across the country. THANK YOU ALL!

2021 was also a record year for strengthening and building relationships with National Partners and Regional Sponsors. I want to thank them all for their support and commitment to the ongoing professional development of the thousands of Canadians working in our sector that are active with CPBI.

We are fortunate to work with such great Regional Coordinators who are the glue of the prolific regional programming and activity. Thanks! You make it work, and you make it fun!

A huge thank you to my team: Lena, Michel, Jessica, Monique & Melaney. I am so grateful for the teamwork, dedication and professionalism you bring to work each day. You rock!

Last but certainly not least, thank you to YOU. The CPBI community is made up of members and non-members alike who engage with their peers to learn, connect and grow as industry professionals. Thank you for being an active member of the CPBI community!

On a more personal note, I came in as Executive Director of CPBI 24 months ago, of which 21 ½ were spent working from home due to this pandemic. Not easy for someone like me who loves to be with her team (in-person!). But to this day, I continue to be blown away by the level of engagement our volunteers and team bring to the table, day in, day out. I’m so thankful to you! I am certainly looking forward to travelling again and meeting you all, as the situation becomes safe for us to meet again in person.

May you enjoy magical moments with your loved ones this holiday season and here’s to a healthy and happy 2022!

Caroline Tison
