Trends in Digital Plan Member EngagementNovember 19, 2014 7:30 AM to 9:00 AMRoyal Mayfair Golf and Country Club, Edmonton, Alberta Area of Interest: Pensions, Benefits, Investments, Networking Format: In PersonA new era: We’re living in a new era of where and how Canadians are consuming information and services and interacting with brands. It’s no longer about trends and forecasts, we’re living in a world where the vast majority of us are connecting via mobile and social media and we are experiencing the benefits of doing so. Of course this is more so for the younger folks than older employees who interact in a more traditional way but this is changing too. Are we ready: Are group providers aligning with benefit plan member expectations? Are we delivering content and experiences on platforms where the majority of plan members are - and are we providing content and functionality that is relevant and expected. Why does it matter: We’ll look at the ROI of doing mobile and social right and how we should be thinking about the costs and benefits. The topic isn't purely generational diversity as such but deals with emerging trends in consuming information and services, largely due to a new generation but not solely. Paul is Director of Digital Solutions for Group Benefits at Sun Life Financial Canada. He has worked in eBusiness and Digital Marketing for the past 10 years. Paul currently leads digital technology product development, as well as digital marketing strategies and best practices. He is a Certified Employee Benefit Specialist and has gained a breadth of experience and perspective working in other areas of the group benefits business, including Operations and Business Development. The Business Value of a Healthy WorkforceOctober 15, 2014 7:30 AM to 9:30 AMRoyal Mayfair Golf and Country Club, Edmonton, Alberta Area of Interest: Pensions, Benefits, Investments, Networking Format: In PersonCanadian employers have long relied on their benefit programs to help keep their workers healthier and to stem the tide of higher health, absence and disability costs. According to Towers Watson’s latest study of organizational health and productivity practices, many employers are now working to refine the efficiency of their plans by better engaging employees in their own health maintenance and directly linking organizational health strategy to the employee value proposition. Research findings from their Staying@Work research on high-effectiveness health and productivity programs will be discussed as well as the types of strategies employers are utilizing to improve employee health and financial results. During this session, strategies will be explored for employers to: implement employee health engagement strategies; manage key lifestyle risks such as stress, lack of physical activity and obesity; increase participation rates in lifestyle change and support programs; improve health awareness and disease prevention (including mental and emotional health); apply health and productivity effectiveness benchmarks; and compare your organization’s health and productivity against your peers. Julia joined the Calgary office of Towers Watson as a Senior Consultant in 2011 and has over 18 years of experience working in the health and insurance industry. Julia leads Towers Watson’s Absence, Disability and Health Management Practice for Western Canada where she consults to clients on a broad range of strategic issues in the areas of attendance management, disability management, health measurement as well as wellness program design and execution.
