Sadiq S. Adatia, Sun Life Financial

As Chief Investment Officer, Sadiq S. Adatia manages Sun Life Global Investment’s Portfolio Management Team which offers investors leading asset management solutions from around the world.

Sadiq joined Sun Life Global Investments in 2011, just a year after the company’s launch. He brought with him strong expertise in managed solutions and tactical asset allocation and led the investment team as he further developed the company’s product lineup.

From the outset, his investment strategy has focused squarely on managing investment risk while still pursuing the growth investors are looking for. It’s a strategy that has been widely embraced, with Sadiq’s team overseeing over $20 billion today.

Sadiq’s investment knowledge is also sought after in the broader investment community, and is frequently asked by media outlets like CNBC, BNN, CBC, Bloomberg and Reuters for his insights. He also travels extensively across Canada, meeting with advisors, consultants, investors, plan sponsors and companies to discuss the markets and world economy.

Before joining Sun Life Global Investments, Sadiq was Chief Investment Officer at Russell Investments Canada. He was responsible for all domestic and foreign investment funds sold in Canada and was also the portfolio manager for Canadian equity, dividend and small cap products, as well as asset allocation funds. Prior to that, he worked at Mercer Canada as Business Leader for Investment Consulting for Central Canada.

Sadiq holds an Honours Bachelor of Mathematics degree in Actuarial Science & Statistics from the University of Waterloo. He is also a CFA Charterholder, and is a Fellow both of the Society of Actuaries (Investment Specialty Track) and the Canadian Institute of Actuaries.
