Mental Health
We can’t fix what we can’t see - World-class brain imaging unlocks the deepest secrets of the living brain. The Royal Ottawa has acquired one of a few PET-fMRI machines in the world. Zul Merali (PhD), President & CEO of the University Of Ottawa Institute Of Mental Health Research, will tell us how this machine will open the door to a new era of success in mental health care.
Disability – In today's work force, mental health has a significant impact on both employers and employees. Mental illness affects both absenteeism and productivity; it is a leading cause of employee disability in a work environment – David Blais, Director, Disability Management Consultant team from Manulife Financial will discuss best practices as related to mental health.
Drug Management
Drug Management – Kathleen Kilganan, who is the Product Manager in charge of bringing the Sun Life PPN to market in 2014 will describe the prescription drug landscape and offer drug cost management strategies for plan sponsors.
Ontario Retirement Provincial Plan (ORPP)
What is the ORPP? – According to the Ontario government the ORPP “is intended to provide a predictable source of retirement income for the most at risk of under-savings, particularly middle-income earners without workplace pensions”. We have invited a representative from the Ontario Liberal party to discuss the rationale behind this government initiative.
The Carrier’s perspective – Chris Donnelly, VP and Counsel, Industry, Regulatory and Government Affairs from Manulife will offer a perspective on the ORPP from the insurance carrier’s point of view.
The Plan Sponsor’s perspective – Bradley Baker, Senior Consultant from Morneau Shepell will present some advantages and disadvantages of the ORPP proposal from a pension plan sponsor perspective.
