Assets invested in ETFs listed globally and in Canada have reached record highs with 35 consecutive months of net inflows. Institutional flows into ETFs are expected to grow to $300B annually by 2020. Given this, it is not surprising that ETFs are increasingly playing an important role in Canadian institutional portfolios. Asset owners are turning to ETFs to help optimize performance in today’s of low return expectation/low yield environment.
An expert panel of Greg Walker, Head of Institutional Sales – ETF for Vanguard Canada and Justin Oliver Director, institutional Sales – ETF’s for BMO Global Asset Management moderated by Ray Desai, Regional Director Asset Owner relations for FTSE Russell; will provide a high level overview of ETF trends and how institutions are introducing ETF’s into their portfolios to target specific trends enhance liquidity and reduce costs. |

| Justin has more than 15 years of experience in the investment industry, specializing in exchange traded funds, new innovative ways to deliver financial advice, capital markets and mutual funds. Justin currently works at BMO as a V.P. for ETFs helping to raise awareness and educate various types of institutions on ETFs and the value of their use. Prior, Justin helped to rebuild Fraser Mackenzie, a small Toronto based brokerage firm for 3 years where he served as a partner. Previously, he worked with Canaccord Genuity for 7 years as a V.P. Institutional Equity Sales raising over $1B dollars in capital for various types of companies, both public and private. Justin has a Chartered Accountant (CPA, CA) designation and holds his undergraduate degree from the University of Western Ontario, Huron College in Finance and Economics. Justin has a passion for being a part of positive change. |

Greg Walker is Head of Institutional ETF Sales at Vanguard Investments Canada. This group is responsible for the support and development of ETF use with institutional investment teams across Canada. Before joining Vanguard, Mr. Walker served as the Global Head of ETF Distribution at RBC Capital Markets and was a managing director and head of iShares business development at BlackRock Asset Management Canada Limited. Greg also was a director of institutional fixed income at Dundee Securities and held increasingly senior positions at Bank of Montreal, including vice president in a fixed income investment management group specializing in credit risk assets.
Mr. Walker earned an HBA in Economics and Financial Management from Wilfrid Laurier University. He is a CFA® charterholder and has held positions on a number of investment industry boards including Women in Capital Markets (WCM) and the Buy-Side Investment Management Association (BIMA). |
