Over the past decade, there has been a growing awareness of the need to measure and report on the quality of healthcare services delivered by providers. This session will examine the emerging movement towards measurement of quality and outcomes in health care as a basis for health provider reimbursement. Particular focus is paid to international and national jurisdiction initiatives such as the Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) in the UK, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Five-Star Quality Rating System in the US and the Excellent Care for All Act in Ontario. In this session, conference attendees will learn about:
• The first payor-led program in Canada to measure pharmacy performance and assess it against a set of validated medication-use measures. • How a quality assessment framework can help not only inform patient choice of pharmacy providers but also support an outcome-based reimbursement model that incentivizes higher quality of service provision and enhance accountability • How plan sponsors can ensure their investments in benefits plans are yielding optimal health outcomes. |
