The 2014 CPBI Ontario Regional Conference brought together experts in the pension, benefits and investment industries.
Marnie McBean opened the conference with an entertaining and pointed talk about the importance of maintaining a balance in your life and enjoying what you do. In her experiences as an Olympic competitor and mentor to other athletes, Marnie shared her realization that achieving your goals is most worthwhile when you keep the enthusiasm, enjoyment and excitement in your work.
The education program included two Plan Sponsor plenaries – which addressed the issues of Managing an Aging Workforce – each from a Plan Sponsor perspective. The sessions included both experts in the field and a panel of Plan Sponsors sharing some of their own stories.
The closing speaker of the conference, Jeffrey Simpson, discussed the state of Canada’s Healthcare System. He offered an enlightened and hard hitting perspective of where Canada's Medicare stands today.
There were eight workshops at the 2014 conference covering today’s important issues surrounding pensions, benefits and investments. But it wasn’t all work! The Thursday evening gala dinner and entertainment was superb. Graham Chittenden brought the house down. “He was hilarious” – “I haven’t laughed that hard in years” – “Graham was unbelievably funny” - were just some of the responses from delegates. There was plenty of time to meet fellow conference goers with receptions, health breaks and lunches.
If you weren’t able to attend this year – don’t miss another CPBI Ontario Regional Conference! Information will be available soon for 2015!
