Created by member insurance companies, the Canadian Drug Insurance Pooling Corporation (CDIPC) has been in existence since 2012 with a mandate to reduce and share the burden caused by the consequences of one-time and recurrent high cost drug claims on sponsors of fully insured drug plans. This session will explain how CDIPC’s embedded EP3 and industry level pooling mechanisms work, results to date, and trends seen since CDIPC’s inception.

  

Dan Berty, Executive Director

Canadian Drug Insurance Pooling Corporation (CDIPC)

Dan Berty has been the CDIPC’s Executive Director since 2015. He is responsible for administration of the corporation’s high cost drug pooling mechanisms. During his 25 years in the industry, Mr. Berty has provided executive leadership on a variety of transformational and industry wide initiatives including electronic claims, operations virtualization, offshoring, use of data analytics in fraud management, and risk analysis. Beyond his work for CDIPC, the consultancy he leads also provides expert advice on group health and dental insurance to technology companies, insurers, foreign investors, and medical provider associations.

CE Credit:  This session qualifies for 1 Continuing Education credit for the Insurance Council of Saskatchewan (one credit per hour).
