The staged implementation of CPP changes begins with the first installment, January 1, 2019, which is followed with five more stages. The changes will have implications for benefit coverage and costs and this discussion will review possible options and outcomes for different types of pension plans. Phil Rivard is Vice President of Pension Policy and Funding for Alberta Local Authorities Pension Plan Corp. He is an actuary with more than 25 years of experience in pensions, for private and public sector plans, related to plan funding, design, administration and risk management.
