The State of Health Care in AlbertaFebruary 20, 2014 11:30 AM to 1:30 PMFairmont Palliser, Calgary, Alberta Area of Interest: Benefits Format: In PersonThis session will be presented by Nadeem Esmail, Director of Health Policy Studies at The Fraser Institute. In 2013, more than 90,000 Albertans were waiting for medically necessary care. That state of affairs had significant consequences not only for those who were waiting but also for their friends and families, and for the economy. This presentation will shed light on just how bad things are in Canada and Alberta, in comparison with the state of health care in other countries that also maintain universal approaches to health care insurance. This information is critical in understanding the limitations of the publicly funded system and how individuals and organizations might work to protect themselves from potential harm or economic loss. The presentation will also provide insight into how other countries manage to provide more timely access to care, more efficiently while maintaining (if not better achieving) the noble goal of access to care regardless of ability to pay. Members $65 Non-Members $95 Table of 8 $580
